Europe: Germany and Italy

Hi Dave,

We absolutely loved our vacation! We’re thankful we had your expertise and knowledge heading into the trip – so helpful!

The Neuschwanstein tour was amazing! We took a charter bus (with about 40 people) to see Linderhof Castle, a little town called Oberammergau, and then Neuschwanstein. The sights were beautiful. We had a guided tour at Linderhof, explored Oberammergau (and ate gelato) on our own, and then had an audio-guided tour of Neuschwanstiein. The tour was interesting, but my favorite part was the hike up to the castle (there was also an option to take a bus up but the walk was definitely worth it)

The boat tour of the Amalfi Coast was incredible! I typically have really bad motion sickness, so I was a little hesitant about this one, but I wore Sea Bands and was totally fine for the day. I’m so glad we did this tour because the views were gorgeous. We’ve never seen water so blue. It was fun to explore Positano and Amalfi (rather than stay in the city center, we explored the side streets)

We also enjoyed our tour of the Colosseum and the Forum – we had a great tour guide and it was really cool to be in such a historic place.

We loved the food in Italy – every meal was amazing! I now have daily cravings for gelato!

The food in Germany was good, but there are only so much sausage and potatoes one can eat in a week. The beer was great though!

All the hotels worked great, but our favorite by far was the Miramare in Sorrento – beautiful room with amazing views. It was up the hill from the city and the walk into town wasn’t bad at all. We really enjoyed it!
Thanks again for all your help in preparing for the trip!
